ROSEBURG, Ore. – More options for affordable housing are one step closer in Roseburg.
The city of Roseburg has approved a conditional use permit for the development of a 144 unit apartment building across from Sunshine park.
The nine-acre plot of land will house six separate apartment buildings, community buildings, and a number of other community facilities.
Roseburg has been attempting to get developers to come to build affordable housing, and the complex is one of its successes.
“So, a year ago, the city conducted a housing needs analysis, and in that analysis what the city found was that our projected population is supposed to grow by twenty percent over the next twenty years,” said Eric Johnson, a communications specialist.
As the population continues to grow, the city says they planning to build more complexes like this one.
Wishcamper Development Partners will be in charge of construction. The city is hoping to have the project completed by next year.
